My neighbor earlier today told that if I like The Beatles, then I should not miss Beatlejuice's performance on Monday night!

I hope to be able to catch one of Ralph Ayers' tours as well, now that I've met him.

Last year's Fashion Show was very entertaining ...

OK, I'm done doing my part for YH.

I just learned from the DN (It's not on the YH website) that there's a Microbrewery Beer Festival on the Waterfront on Wednesday.

Joe Holaday is the bass player of Beatlejuice. And, I think a number of other members are local.

Hmm, who's up for meeting up Wed night over microbrews and convo? Dick?

Are khakis optional?

I'm planning to be there. My partner, a real beer geek, says we should start with Allagash, Mercury Brewing, and Ommegang Brewery.

I've never been to one of these, but I assume they use small glasses, so we can try a bunch.

I would normally wear jeans, but I suppose khakis will be ok.

Nice idea Ari. I hope you all have fun.

I, however, will be bringing my Khakis and pink hat to the Red Sox game.

Hi,

Thank your sir for the plug.

Hope you all watched.

The Neptunes' won. As they have for the past 4 years now at the Rotary Cup Challenge.

Their first stream was great, and they deserved to win.

Of course we (Protection #1 from Newbury) won the muster yesterday on the Upper Green.

And next weekend there will be another muster.

Pumping starts at 12pm.

For those of you that have never seen a muster, you should come watch.

Here is a link about what it is about : http://www.handtubs.com/muster.htm

Its an integral part of our heritage. Many (and many) years ago this was how fires were put out.

Now (since 1849) its a fun competition. Keeping the history of our communities alive.

Please understand that the Neptunes Handtub was originally purchased to put out fires in Newbury & Newburyport. It was used to save many of the houses that you all see today.

At the muster you will see the machines that saved so many of our present homes.

Much like our nautical history, this is a part of our past that should be remembered and respected.

Next Saturday on the Newbury Upper Green. Starting @ 12pm.

Bring the kids, we'll make sure they get washed.

thanks again.

I haven't been to a muster since I was a kid. I remember other contests (e.g., ladder erection & climbing) in addition to pumping. Are those still done?

Hi,

Dick, I believe that there are still many fireman competitions. The ones you refer to are usually more fire departments competing, especially at state fairs.

Next saturday @ noon on the Newbury Green. Stop by for 15 minutes to take a look or get a hamburger and spend some time looking at all the old handtubs.

thanks,
sds
