All right I caved to loyal reader Dick M. and added a third choice for this week's poll. As I noted in the early post, I'm excited about Yankee Homecoming.

Thank you. Of course, I was able to vote "aware of" only because the heading so informed me. I was thinking it was still a couple of weeks away.
I noticed in your poll that 6 people already voted that they "dreaded" YH. What a bunch of wimps! It is 1 week a year. Big deal. Embrace YH and have fun. Why do you people have to always be so negative?
i was born and raised in newburyport and still live here today. i just don't like people who are always complaining about everything (i.e. clam shacks, yankee go-home, karp, petty politics, and etc.). Life is too short. It is too much to ask to go to the waterfront and listen to some music during YH week? Maybe take a walk on the boardwalk? People should not be "dreading" YH week. It should be a fun time.
Tourists don't bother me. If you are around good friends who aren't complaining all of the time, then you should you should have a good time. Don't blame your poor YH experience on the "tourist" trap. Just go with the flow and have fun or be miserable and stay home

I'm excited for the fireworks and running the 5k. I love YH.
anon - it should be a fun time, and it used to be. but it isn't anymore.its not a community celebration its a tourist trap.
