I've got a birthday dinner coming up. I've hit most places in town, but I'm interested in trying something new in the Seacoast area.
Any suggestions?

We have yet to go to Joseph's Winter St. Cafe, but I hear it's good. That and Glenn's. A bit outside of town...Pow Wow Grille in Amesbury has been recommended, but we haven't gone yet.
Way outside of town...the Hart House in Ipswich is a favorite. Is Portsmouth too far? I know there are great spots up there...
The number of people can really affect the choice. Since similar dinners in our family involve about 2 dozen people, varying from 2 - 70, we've pretty much settled on Stripers. They do very well with that size party.
If it's a small subset, we're probably going to one of the ethnic places.
Tom, There is a little place up in Rye, just north of Jennes Beach you should try. Carriagehouserye.com. The wife and I were pleasantly surprised, had a nice dinner there.
Speaking of Gloucester, has anyone tried the place that advertises on WNBP? I think it's called the Adorian, or maybe Azorian. Not only can I not get the name clearly (my hearing is none too good), the ad does not include its address.
I'd like to try a place that supports my favorite station (which probably gives you a clues as to why I don't care about the concerts by the river).
I've never been there, but my sister who lives in Gloucester quite likes it. It's right after the train tracks, on Washington St.
There's a place in Essex, but I can't remember its name ... it's right after JT Farnum's on 133 (curve to the right and it's on the next curve, on right). It's an old inn. I've only been there for lunch, but it was GREAT. Good food, good atmosphere ...
Tom, if you're willing to drive as far as Melrose, I also highly recommend the Turner's Seafood there (as opposed to the one in Boston). Unfortunately, the Turner's in Gloucester is only a take-out/fish market.
Latitude has a sushi bar ... it's a sunken sushi bar ...
Tom, since I need to think about something other than Crow Lane, Senior Center, and Debt Exclusion, I will second the many restaurant endorsements contained herein.
Restaurant Molise in Amesbury was a nice surprise--the atmosphere is nothing fancy but the food is great and reasonably priced. You'll get the next day's lunch too.
Guiseppe's (also known as Gappy's in our family since it was hard for a two year old to pronounce Guiseppe)is also excellent casual dining. Go for the Pesto Gnocchi. Look for the picture on the wall of Gappy himself with Johnny Damon.
Since I presume your dinner is to be without child, go for Pow Wow if you haven't been there. Of course, Plum Island Grille has a great outside bar facing the sunset and the marsh.
This dinner sounds mysterious. Is it you and Mr. X?
But, I also realized you're going on Monday. Don't forget lots of places are closed on Monday. We've forgotten that many times. OTOH, we've made some nice discoveries near the place we intended to try.

But seriously folks, a fun place is Ray's Seafood in Rye. Just drive up Rt 1A. Sit on the 2nd floor for a better view.

1. Ten Center
2. Joseph's
3. Black Cow
4. Plum Island Grill
5. Agave (Striper's would be here if it were in town)
Have you been to the American BBQ in Rowley? Great food at affordable prices.
Giuseppe's is on my list of restaurants to visit, but you wanted something beyond 01950?
I've heard rave reviews about a steakhouse called Gavin's in Middleton.
I have been to American BBQ. Good stuff indeed.
