i find it very hard to believe that the senior population will increase in the next 10 years. newburyport isn't the type of city where people live here their whole lives anymore. The people that would be willing to live here the rest of their life, can't afford to stay in their homes, and those that can afford it, will retire to warmer climates. Those that do stay will be finically well off, and would probably not even use the services offered by the senior center. I agree they need a place, and soon, but i don't think that Cushing Park was a good idea at all, and i don't think building a brand new, state of the art building is necessary.
