Newburyport According to X. The blogger says s/he is a Newburyport native but is choosing to remain anonymous for reasons of his or her own choosing.
I see some healthy disagreement ahead. But that's a good thing. (Thanks to Newburyport Blog for steering us.)

interesting stuff, the anonymous angle some bloggers and posters take, gives me even more respect for journalist (and bloggers) who have their names on all their stories, ( and under their photos as well).
and yes I sse the irony in me posting with a nom de plume.
Of course, for some of us anonymity is the safest option available, particularly when it comes to contentious issues like parking, senior centers, shoveling sand on Plum Island or Mr Karp.
Additionally, posting anonymously forces one to concentrate on one's ideas and content, since in order to be taken seriously as an anonymous poster one's ideas must have a certain forceful logic to them.
I agree with both points, actually. Initially, I thought a name would be nice. But I must assume the anonymity is necessary because of X's stature or occupation (s/he mentions they've blogged in the past.) So the anonymity tag actually sets the bar fairly high.
Our anonymous or alias-aided commenters have provided genuine insights so I expect the same from X.
Gordon Atkinson is a San Antonio, Texas pastor who began blogging anonymously in 2002. He posted for two years but because the anonymity bar is set so high, his readers started to figure out who he was. He "came out" during a church sermon, and since then he's been posting with his name. Great blog, btw, at Real Live Preacher.
Switching gears, look at Jessica Cutler, author of the recent novel, "The Washingtonienne," who had interned in a Capitol Hill Senator's office while blogging anonymously about her sexual exploits with political bigwigs. Eventually, she was "discovered" and subsequently fired.
I have nothing wrong with anonymous bloggers. I have numerous such blogs bookmarked on my computer. But unless one is rigid with remembering what one posted in the past, anonymity will eventually catch up. That's one of the reasons why I post in my own name.
