You can see what it's called Green Street.

Imagine those trees on a warm summer day.
We really could use an arborist in town.

I recently met with Hugh Kelleher, the chair of the city's tree committee, and he shared with me the many reasons why the city should hire a professional arborist, not the least is because the city hasn't had such a full-time position in 40 years.
As job descriptions currently stand, there are two positions which could potentially be amended to include a certified arborist: the deputy director of public services (aka the highway department director, who doubles as the tree warden) and the now-vacant part-time conservation agent in the planning office.
There are pros and cons with arborism as part of either position. Personally, I'm leaning toward the conservation agent due to the clear connections to the Conservation Commission, Planning Board, etc. If you talk about tree roots, pruning and planting, best to have an existing relation with the ConCom.
Something to think about over the coming fiscal year, anyway.
