Tom,
If interested...a heads up on an issue that will soon be surfacing that your readers may be interested in. The Zoning Board approved special permit for a 30 story wind turbine to be installed on Mark Richey's property in the industrial park (adjacent to Route 1). Although it was public meeting, most of the neighborhood affected by this had no idea of the impact to their homes. The only abutters formally notified on the east side of route 1 were the residents of the Highland Cemetery!!! The rest of the neighborhood was left to find out on their own.
Thanks for writing.
I must admit though, I don't think this is really news.
The Daily News reported on the City Council's discussion of the turbine bylaw (which I understand drew very little if any public comment). The news also had an article about the proposal and the approval.

I honestly don't know what the notification procedure is, but I'm not sure what neighborhood abuts this property.
I suspect notices would go out to property owners within a certain radius. My guess is most homes fell outside that zone.
I don't think it's reasonable for the city to send out notices to everyone who thinks they might be affected. A reasonable line has to be drawn.
Sorry, I know I'm not lending a sympathetic ear. But I don't see any intrigue here. Furthermore, I think it's a good project.
Finally, and I'm quibbling here. But I'm guessing your saying a 30-story tower becaues it may be 300 feet. (Is it? Anyone?)
The 60-story John Hancock building is 790 feet. I'm not sure the 10-feet per floor ratio is an accurate measure.
Thanks for posting.
(p.s. I deleted my previous comment. Had a big typo.)
