I didn't really get to enjoy much of Yankee Homecoming this year. Fortunately, much of it--the fireworks, the road race and the parade--pass in front, near, or over my house. It's a great event. I look forward to next year, but I'd like to lend my support to the opinion expressed in the paper today
The Boy dragged me away from the parade last year because the sirens/horns were too loud, and he didn't want to go this year, I suspect for the same reason.
Can we tone it down a bit next year? Does anyone really enjoy the noise?

I know this photographer guy, he waits downtown near the Whale until the last fire truck goes by, then he walks up and shoots the parade. Been doing it for years.
does any one enjoy YH, period.
Me do.
Tough call. Sirens and firetrucks are intertwined. Give a Matchbox firetruck to a kid, and he'll mimic the sound. Maybe some reruns of Emergency would be a more medically acceptable method of introducing this link.
I noted the crew of one truck wore headphones for the parade. Good choice. Maybe they all have plugs.
In addition to standing through the parade of firetrucks, I also went to a Extreme/Ratt concert this past Friday night at Club Casino. My sign language sessions commence soon.
By the way, don't have a heart attack in this area on the day of the parade. That line of ambulances was fairly long.
I often wonder if the high number of emergency vehicles is meant to the build the confidence psyche of the population, similar to the displays of tanks and soldiers marching through the streets of Beijing.
What an interesting thread.
