If you pave it...

I can't for the life of me figure out why the crew building the new condos by the Towle building already paved and painted what I assume will be the parking lots to the new complex. Not a building to be seen, but the parking is in place.

Are those spaces going to be an extension of the Towle building parking lot?

This project is bumming me out a bit. We're losing a sweeping river sightline.

I know, very NIMBY of me.

Tom,

I believe the new parking area is being put in first because a lot of the old parking will then be ripped up for the townhouses.

They're paving in preparation for the waterfront condos they are building. The newly paved area is the replacement for the parking they are losing due to the condos, and they apparently had to have it in place before they could build. Like you, I am not happy with the loss of the view upriver. When the property owners got permission for the redevelopment of the building years ago, they made a point of saying they were not building on the river. So much for that pledge.

This is very interesting. I am surprised that this project is underway in such a sluggish real estate market.

Hopefully, Tom, the condos will have large windows in the front and back, so you can still see the water when they have their blinds open. The condos that block my view allow me of this good fortune occassionally.

Uh, bean, don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. The condo owner will more likely call the cops to complain about a peeping tom!
