Grrr

I just went to spend my hard earned bucks at a local place but they were closed 15 minutes earlier than they were supposed to. I just hate that.

Only Kings, Zayres, Almys, Bradlees would be allowed to open.

My favorite headline of a store closing was :

Eh, I'm a poser. Frank Cousins once told me he worked at Kings in Salisbury. Just trying to pander to the locals....

BTW, got this email from one of our shier readers...

you might want to mention to the "no chain store downtown" people that Kmart, then called Kresge's used to be at the Richdale's location, in fact throughout the Andy Griffith mayberry, days in America most small towns had chain strores, like Kresge's, Woolworth, Grants, Kress, Howard Johnson, Baskin Robbins, most of these chains were located in small town's downtowns. how many store signify a chain, is Winfry's a chain , they have 4 stores. I think a healthy downtown need a good mix, that way you serve the locals and visitors. There was also an A&P in downtown newburyport , which was one of the original chain stores
