Well, we're coming up on two months since my appointment to the Newburyport Redevelopment Authority, and I have to admit,it's been an interesting experience.
Things look a bit different from the other side of the table, when you've got a bit of yourself vested in the outcome.
Today's Globe story on the waterfront lots is Exhibit A.
The article gives a fairly standard overview over the disagreements on what to do with the lot. No real complaints there, but the picture that ran alongside the article.
What the heck were they thinking?
I typically defend mistakes in newspapers as just part of an imperfect - but important -process. But this picture is difficult to explain.
Boggles the mind.
Anyway, let me take this opportunity to introduce you to the newest blog on the rol1 - the NRA Today. We'll be using it to keep people informed about what's going on downtown.
Please visit often.

that link goes to a 2008 DN story, not a globe story
oops. thanks.
what ever happened to the plan Moak came up with for a working waterfront, rebuilding the fishing industry on the waterfront?
Way to skew the readers' sentiments about the substance of the story. Nice job, boston.com.
@anon II. I'm afraid don't know the particulars. But feel free to come to one of our meetings. Each opens with public comment. Members of the audience are invited to speak on whatever issues/concerns they have.
Next meeting is Wed, 7 pm at the Library.
i will try my best to make it, but as you are a member of the association, will you inquire about it if i can not?
It's pretty simple. They are thinking about their deadlines, and used a file photo without checking the facts. A shame.
Association? Hmmm, only one other person has called the NRA an association, and he also comments on this blog.
Anyway, I'll inquire. But the Abramson report sort of shook up the etch-a-sketch so we're starting with a clean slate.
If this use is important to you I'd invite you again to participate in the upcoming meetings.
Thanks for your interest.
Thanks your interest sounds kind of dismissive....So I'll just leave it at thanks.
BTW, the other maddening element of the poor photo selection is the fact that the photo is still attached to the online article. How difficult would it be to uncouple the photo from the article?
